Position Information

Position: Dishwasher / Kitchen Steward

Employment Type: Full-Time / Part-Time

Working Schedule: Six (6) Days Per Week

Work Location: Bukit Merah, Central Region, Singapore, with opportunities to be assigned to other operational locations depending on business requirements.

Monthly Salary: SGD 2,200 – SGD 3,200

Salary offered will depend on relevant working experience, job performance, qualifications, and company assessment. Additional benefits and employment terms will be discussed with shortlisted candidates during the interview process.


Job Summary

The Dishwasher / Kitchen Steward is responsible for maintaining cleanliness and sanitation throughout the kitchen and washing areas. This includes operating commercial dishwashing equipment, washing and sanitizing kitchen utensils and cookware, maintaining garbage disposal areas, supporting kitchen operations, and ensuring compliance with company hygiene and food safety standards.

The successful candidate will work closely with kitchen personnel and supervisors to ensure that all cleaning operations are carried out efficiently, allowing the kitchen to operate smoothly throughout daily service.


Key Responsibilities

The successful applicant will be responsible for, but not limited to, the following duties:

  • Operate commercial dishwashing machines and related cleaning equipment safely and efficiently.
  • Wash, rinse, sanitize, and dry dishes, plates, bowls, cups, glasses, trays, utensils, cutlery, cooking pots, pans, containers, and kitchen equipment.
  • Ensure all cleaned items are properly inspected before being stored or returned for operational use.
  • Organize and store cleaned equipment neatly in designated storage areas.
  • Maintain cleanliness of the dishwashing station throughout working hours.
  • Clean sinks, washing equipment, preparation tables, shelves, storage racks, floors, walls, and surrounding work areas.
  • Sweep and mop kitchen floors regularly to ensure a clean and safe working environment.
  • Remove food waste and dispose of garbage according to company procedures and local hygiene regulations.
  • Maintain cleanliness and organization of garbage collection and disposal areas.
  • Replace garbage bags and ensure waste bins are cleaned and sanitized regularly.
  • Assist in cleaning refrigerators, freezers, storage rooms, and food preparation areas whenever required.
  • Refill cleaning chemicals, soap dispensers, sanitizers, and other cleaning supplies as necessary.
  • Ensure proper handling and storage of cleaning chemicals and equipment.
  • Follow all workplace health, hygiene, sanitation, and food safety procedures.
  • Comply with company policies regarding workplace safety and cleanliness.
  • Report equipment malfunction, damaged utensils, or maintenance issues to supervisors promptly.
  • Support chefs, cooks, and other kitchen staff with general cleaning and operational duties.
  • Assist with setting up or clearing kitchen workstations before and after service.
  • Maintain high standards of personal hygiene and professional appearance while on duty.
  • Perform additional duties assigned by supervisors or management based on operational requirements.

Candidate Requirements

Applicants should possess the following qualifications and attributes:

  • Physically fit and able to perform manual work for extended periods.
  • Comfortable standing, walking, bending, lifting, and carrying kitchen equipment throughout the workday.
  • Responsible, reliable, punctual, and disciplined.
  • Positive working attitude and willingness to learn.
  • Able to work independently with minimal supervision.
  • Able to cooperate effectively within a team environment.
  • Good time management and organizational skills.
  • Capable of working efficiently in a busy and fast-paced kitchen environment.
  • Able to follow instructions accurately and complete assigned duties on time.
  • Previous experience as a Dishwasher, Kitchen Steward, Cleaner, or Kitchen Assistant is an advantage but not mandatory.
  • Applicants without prior experience are welcome to apply as comprehensive training will be provided.
  • Candidates who are available to commence work immediately or within short notice will have an added advantage.

Working Environment

Employees will work in professional kitchen environments such as restaurants, hotels, cafés, food courts, catering facilities, central kitchens, or other food service establishments located across Singapore.
