Job Overview

 

The Forklift Driver (Empty Container Handler) is responsible for supporting the daily operations of the container depot by operating heavy forklifts safely and efficiently. The successful candidate will ensure containers are moved, stacked, loaded, and unloaded accurately while maintaining high safety and operational standards.

 

This position is ideal for candidates with forklift operating experience who are looking for a stable career with excellent overtime opportunities and long-term employment in Singapore’s logistics and container handling industry.

 

 

Key Responsibilities

 

Your daily responsibilities include but are not limited to:

 

– Operate heavy forklifts and container handling equipment safely.

– Handle empty containers efficiently within the depot.

– Load and unload containers according to operational schedules.

– Stack containers neatly and safely at designated storage locations.

– Move containers between operational zones while following all traffic rules within the depot.

– Ensure containers are transported without causing damage to equipment or cargo.

– Perform daily pre-operation inspections before using forklifts.

– Check tyres, brakes, hydraulic systems, lights, horn, steering, fuel levels, and other essential equipment before every shift.

– Report any machine defects, abnormal sounds, damages, or maintenance issues immediately.

– Perform basic housekeeping and daily equipment care after every shift.

– Follow all workplace safety regulations, operational guidelines, and Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs).

– Wear the required Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) at all times.

– Communicate effectively with supervisors, coordinators, signalmen, and fellow operators.

– Assist in organizing container storage areas to maximize operational efficiency.

– Maintain accurate operational records whenever required.

– Support inventory movement and yard operations when assigned.

– Ensure smooth workflow by coordinating with warehouse and logistics personnel.

– Respond promptly to operational requirements during busy periods.

– Maintain cleanliness and organization of the working area.

– Participate in workplace safety meetings and operational briefings.

– Follow instructions from supervisors and complete additional operational duties whenever necessary.

 

 

Job Requirements

 

Candidates should possess the following qualifications:

 

– Valid Forklift License is required.

– Heavy Forklift License is highly preferred.

– Candidates without a Heavy Forklift License may be considered for company sponsorship based on eligibility and performance.

– Previous experience in container depot operations is an added advantage.

– Experience in logistics, warehouse, shipping, freight, transport, or port operations will be considered favorably.

– Good understanding of forklift operating procedures and workplace safety practices.

– Physically fit and capable of working outdoors under different weather conditions.

– Able to work independently with minimal supervision.

– Responsible, disciplined, and safety-conscious.

– Positive working attitude and willingness to learn.

– Good teamwork and communication skills.

– Able to follow instructions accurately.

– Comfortable working in a fast-paced operational environment.

– Willing to work overtime, weekends, public holidays, or additional shifts whenever required by operational needs.
