JOB DESCRIPTION

We are currently looking for suitable candidates to join the team as a Food Counter Assistant at U Stars Supermarket @ Keat Hong.

The successful candidate will be responsible for assisting with the daily operations of the food counter, including heating and preparing ready-to-eat food, packing food products, arranging and displaying items, replenishing stocks, and maintaining cleanliness around the food counter.

This position is suitable for candidates who are looking for a stable part-time or full-time job and are comfortable working in a supermarket or food service environment.

Candidates are expected to be responsible, punctual, hardworking, and willing to follow instructions and workplace procedures.

Previous experience in food handling, F&B, supermarket operations, or food counter duties is an advantage. However, candidates without previous experience may also apply, as training will be provided for suitable candidates.

JOB RESPONSIBILITIES

Food Preparation

• Heat and prepare ready-to-eat food according to the required procedures.
• Assist with basic food preparation activities.
• Ensure food is handled properly during preparation.
• Make sure food items are prepared according to the required standards.
• Check food items before packing and displaying them.
• Ensure prepared food is packed properly before being placed at the food counter.
• Assist with the daily preparation of food products.
• Follow instructions given by the supervisor or team leader.
• Maintain proper hygiene while handling food.
• Ensure the preparation area remains clean and organized.

Food Packing

• Pack ready-to-eat food products neatly and properly.
• Ensure food packaging is properly closed and presented.
• Arrange packed food products according to the required display arrangement.
• Check that products are packed correctly before displaying them.
• Assist with preparing food products for sale.
• Maintain an organized packing area.
• Handle food products carefully to avoid unnecessary damage or spillage.
• Follow workplace procedures when packing and handling food products.

Food Counter Display

• Arrange food products neatly at the food counter.
• Ensure displayed products are properly organized.
• Replenish food items when the counter requires additional stock.
• Maintain a clean and presentable food display area.
• Rearrange products when required.
• Keep the counter area organized throughout the working shift.
• Check the condition of displayed food products.
• Assist in maintaining an orderly food counter during operating hours.

Stock Replenishment

• Assist with simple stock replenishment duties.
• Bring required food products or supplies to the counter when necessary.
• Arrange stock properly in the designated area.
• Keep products organized and easy to identify.
• Inform the supervisor if stocks are running low.
• Assist with basic stock arrangement and movement.
• Ensure stock areas remain neat and organized.
• Follow instructions regarding stock handling and arrangement.

Cleaning and Hygiene

• Keep the food counter clean and tidy at all times.
• Maintain cleanliness around the preparation and packing areas.
• Clean work surfaces and designated areas when required.
• Dispose of waste properly.
• Keep food handling areas organized.
• Follow basic food hygiene and workplace cleanliness requirements.
• Ensure the food counter is presentable throughout the working day.
• Perform routine cleaning duties related to the food counter.
• Maintain good personal hygiene while handling food.
• Follow all instructions regarding food safety and cleanliness.

IMPORTANT JOB INFORMATION

This position does not involve cashier duties.

The main responsibilities are related to food preparation, heating ready-to-eat food, packing, displaying food products, replenishing stock, arranging products, and maintaining the cleanliness of the food counter.

Candidates should be prepared to perform routine duties in a supermarket food counter environment and work according to the assigned schedule.

WORKING HOURS

Morning Shift: 7:00 AM – 2:00 PM

Afternoon Shift: 2:00 PM – 9:00 PM

Working Days: 5–6 Days Per Week

Candidates should be able to work either the morning or afternoon shift depending on the work schedule and operational requirements.

Applicants should also be prepared to work 5–6 days per week and follow the roster provided by the employer.

Training will be provided to suitable candidates, and new staff will be guided on the required duties and workplace procedures.
