JOB OVERVIEW
A healthcare employer located near Kent Ridge MRT, Queenstown is looking for Healthcare Assistants to join its healthcare team on a full-time basis.
The Healthcare Assistant will be responsible for supporting nurses and the healthcare team in providing safe, personalised and appropriate care to patients. The successful candidate will assist with basic patient care, observe patients’ conditions, support nursing procedures and help maintain a clean and safe healthcare environment.
This position is suitable for candidates who have completed a Healthcare Assistant course and are prepared to work according to a rotating shift schedule.
JOB PURPOSE
The main purpose of this position is to provide personalised, specialised and cost-effective care to patients in accordance with established healthcare procedures, standards and instructions from the nursing team.
The Healthcare Assistant will work closely with nurses and other healthcare staff to ensure patients receive proper assistance and that daily healthcare operations run smoothly.
KEY JOB RESPONSIBILITIES
- Patient Care
Assist in providing basic care and support to patients according to their individual needs and the instructions provided by the nursing team.
Assist patients with general daily activities where required and ensure that patients are treated with care, respect and dignity.
Provide appropriate assistance while carrying out assigned patient-care duties.
- Patient Observation
Assist nurses in observing patients and monitoring their general condition.
Report any changes in a patient’s condition or progress to the appropriate nursing staff.
Pay attention to patients’ needs and promptly communicate any concerns to the nurses or relevant healthcare personnel.
- Nursing Support
Assist nurses in carrying out assigned procedures and general nursing-related duties.
Follow instructions from nurses and senior nursing staff carefully.
Provide support to the healthcare team during daily patient-care activities.
Ensure assigned duties are carried out according to established procedures and workplace requirements.
- Specimen Collection and Testing
Observe, collect and handle patient specimens as instructed by the nursing or healthcare team.
Assist with specimen testing according to established procedures.
Ensure specimens are handled carefully and appropriately while following workplace instructions.
- Patient Admission and Orientation
Assist with the admission and orientation of conscious patients who are in stable condition.
Provide basic assistance and guidance to patients during the admission process.
Help patients become familiar with the healthcare environment and relevant arrangements.
- Maintaining a Clean and Safe Environment
Assist in maintaining a clean, safe and comfortable environment for patients.
Keep assigned areas clean and orderly.
Follow workplace safety procedures and healthcare standards at all times.
Support the nursing team in maintaining a suitable environment for patient care.
- General Duties
Perform other general duties as assigned by the Nurse Manager or Senior Nurse Manager.
Provide assistance to the healthcare team whenever required.
Work cooperatively with nurses, healthcare staff and other colleagues to support smooth daily operations.
REQUIREMENTS
Candidates must have completed a Healthcare Assistant (HCA) course.
Applicants must be able to commit to three rotating shifts.
Candidates should be prepared to work according to the shift requirements of the healthcare facility.
Applicants should be responsible, reliable and willing to work in a patient-care environment.
Good teamwork, communication and the ability to follow instructions are important for this role.
WORKING ENVIRONMENT
This is a full-time healthcare position based in the Kent Ridge MRT and Queenstown area.
The Healthcare Assistant will work in a professional healthcare environment and will be required to support nurses and patients as part of the daily healthcare team.
