MECHANICAL ASSEMBLY TECHNICIAN – WOODLANDS

SALARY AND BENEFITS

Basic Salary: $2,500 – $3,000 per month

Gross Salary: Up to $3,000 – $4,000+ per month with OT

Overtime Rate: 1.5×

Overtime: Up to 72 hours per month

Housing Allowance: S$350 per month for eligible employees with basic salary below S$3,000, subject to applicable conditions

Working Days: Monday – Friday

ABOUT THE POSITION

The Mechanical Assembly Technician will be responsible for assembling, installing, aligning, adjusting and testing mechanical components used in automated and robotic machinery.

The role requires candidates who are comfortable working with mechanical components, technical drawings, hand tools and power tools. Attention to detail is important because the equipment may require accurate alignment, adjustment and calibration.

Candidates will work together with engineers, technicians and other members of the technical team to complete machine assembly and ensure equipment meets the required specifications.

KEY JOB RESPONSIBILITIES

1. Mechanical Assembly

Assemble mechanical components, parts and modules according to approved assembly instructions and technical specifications.

Carry out mechanical installation and assembly work for automated and robotic machines.

Ensure components are correctly positioned, fitted and secured during the assembly process.

Perform assembly work according to project requirements, engineering drawings and company procedures.

2. Machine Alignment and Adjustment

Perform mechanical alignment of machine components to ensure proper positioning and operation.

Carry out adjustments and fine-tuning during the assembly and testing stages.

Check machine components for correct fit, movement and alignment.

Perform calibration and mechanical adjustments where required.

Identify and correct alignment problems during assembly.

3. Technical Drawing

Read and interpret mechanical assembly instructions and engineering drawings.

Work with AutoCAD 2D drawings and SolidWorks 3D drawings.

Use technical drawings to understand component dimensions, assembly sequence and positioning requirements.

Ensure assembled equipment follows the specifications shown in the drawings.

4. Tools and Equipment

Use various hand tools and power tools for mechanical assembly.

Operate tools safely and correctly according to company procedures.

Perform basic inspection of tools and equipment before use.

Maintain tools and working areas in proper condition.

5. Troubleshooting

Identify mechanical problems during assembly, installation and testing.

Investigate issues involving machine alignment, fitting, movement and mechanical components.

Perform necessary adjustments and corrective actions.

Work with engineers and other technical personnel to resolve more complex mechanical issues.

6. Machine Testing

Assist with machine testing after assembly.

Check whether assembled equipment operates according to specifications.

Assist with inspection, adjustment and calibration before machine completion.

Report defects, abnormalities or technical issues to the relevant supervisor or engineer.

7. Workplace Safety

Follow all company safety procedures and work instructions.

Use tools and equipment responsibly.

Maintain a clean and organised work area.

Follow proper procedures when handling machinery and mechanical components.

Immediately report unsafe conditions or equipment problems to the supervisor.

8. Teamwork

Work closely with engineers, supervisors and other technicians.

Support the team during machine assembly, testing and troubleshooting.

Complete assigned tasks according to project schedules.

Communicate clearly regarding assembly progress, technical problems and required adjustments.

REQUIREMENTS

Candidates should possess a Diploma, NITEC or relevant technical qualification in Mechanical Engineering, Mechatronics or another related discipline.

Relevant hands-on experience in mechanical machine assembly is preferred.

Candidates with precision machining experience will have an added advantage.

Experience with industrial automation equipment is advantageous.

Experience with semiconductor equipment is an advantage.

Knowledge of AutoCAD 2D and SolidWorks 3D is preferred.

Candidates should be able to read and understand engineering drawings and assembly instructions.

Familiarity with hand tools and power tools is required for the position.

Candidates should have good mechanical troubleshooting and problem-solving skills.

Good attention to detail is important because the position involves mechanical alignment, assembly and adjustment.

Candidates should be responsible, reliable and willing to follow technical instructions.

Applicants should be comfortable working in a technical and industrial environment.

Willingness to work overtime when required is important due to the availability of OT opportunities.
