SENIOR COOK / KITCHEN IN CHARG – URGENT HIRING
Location: VivoCity, Bukit Merah, Singapore
Salary: SGD $2,600–$3,000/Month
Job Type: Full-Time / Part-Time
Work Schedule: 5 Days/Week
About the Role
We are looking for an experienced, responsible, and passionate Senior Cook / Kitchen In Charge to join our kitchen team at Bari Bari, VivoCity. This position is ideal for candidates with strong culinary experience who enjoy working in a fast-paced restaurant environment and are committed to delivering high-quality food and excellent kitchen operations.
As the Senior Cook / Kitchen In Charge, you will be responsible for overseeing daily kitchen activities, ensuring food is prepared according to company recipes and quality standards, maintaining a clean and organized kitchen, managing inventory, supporting junior kitchen staff, and ensuring compliance with all food safety and hygiene regulations.
The successful candidate will play an important role in maintaining smooth kitchen operations while ensuring every customer receives fresh, delicious, and consistently prepared meals.
Key Responsibilities
Food Preparation
Prepare rice, vegetables, sauces, seasonings, and all required ingredients before daily operations begin.
Wash, peel, cut, slice, marinate, portion, and prepare ingredients according to company recipes and standard operating procedures.
Ensure all ingredients are fresh, properly stored, and ready for service.
Prepare ingredients efficiently to support smooth kitchen operations during peak hours.
Maintain proper portion control to ensure consistency and reduce food waste.
Monitor ingredient quality throughout the day and immediately remove any expired or damaged products.
Cooking Operations
Cook food according to approved recipes and company standards.
Ensure every dish meets company expectations for taste, quality, appearance, and portion size.
Monitor cooking times and temperatures carefully to ensure food safety.
Prepare sauces and other kitchen essentials according to standard recipes.
Ensure food is served promptly while maintaining excellent presentation and consistency.
Coordinate multiple food orders efficiently during busy operating hours.
Support continuous improvement of kitchen productivity and food quality.
Kitchen Management
Supervise daily kitchen activities and assist in organizing work schedules.
Coordinate kitchen workflow to ensure efficient operations throughout the day.
Provide guidance and support to junior kitchen staff whenever necessary.
Assign duties to kitchen assistants when required.
Ensure all team members follow company procedures and food safety requirements.
Promote teamwork, discipline, professionalism, and effective communication within the kitchen.
Support outlet operations during busy periods to maintain customer satisfaction.
Inventory & Stock Control
Manage daily kitchen inventory and ensure adequate stock levels.
Check incoming food supplies and verify product quality before storage.
Ensure ingredients are rotated using the FEFO (First Expired, First Out) method.
Monitor stock usage to minimize food wastage.
Record inventory movements accurately.
Assist with monthly stock counts and inventory reconciliation.
Report shortages and recommend timely stock replenishment.
Support outlet food cost control by reducing unnecessary waste and improving stock management.
Hygiene & Food Safety
Maintain excellent kitchen cleanliness throughout every shift.
Ensure all workstations, cooking equipment, utensils, refrigerators, storage shelves, and preparation areas remain clean and sanitized.
Follow the “Clean As You Go” procedure during all food preparation and cooking activities.
Complete opening and closing cleaning duties according to company standards.
Dispose of food waste safely and correctly.
Follow all food hygiene regulations and workplace sanitation requirements.
Maintain proper food storage temperatures and prevent cross-contamination.
Ensure compliance with company food safety policies at all times.
Equipment Maintenance
Operate kitchen equipment safely and responsibly.
Perform routine cleaning of kitchen appliances and cooking equipment.
Inspect equipment regularly for signs of damage or malfunction.
Report equipment faults immediately to supervisors or maintenance personnel.
Ensure all kitchen tools remain clean, organized, and ready for daily operations.
General Responsibilities
Work closely with restaurant management to ensure smooth daily operations.
Support front-of-house operations whenever required.
Maintain punctual attendance and professional work standards.
Follow all company policies, operational procedures, and workplace regulations.
Perform additional kitchen-related duties assigned by supervisors.
Maintain a positive attitude while working under pressure.
Contribute to creating a productive, safe, and professional kitchen environment.
Demonstrate leadership by setting a positive example for other kitchen staff.
Job Requirements
Minimum 2 years of relevant working experience in a restaurant, commercial kitchen, café, hotel, or food and beverage establishment.
Experience as a Senior Cook, Cook, Kitchen Supervisor, Kitchen In Charge, or similar position is highly preferred.
Strong knowledge of food preparation techniques and kitchen operations.
Good understanding of food hygiene, sanitation, and workplace safety practices.
Able to prepare food consistently according to recipes and company standards.
Experience managing kitchen inventory and food stock is an advantage.
Able to work efficiently in a fast-paced environment.
Strong organizational and time management skills.
Good communication and teamwork skills.
Responsible, honest, reliable, hardworking, and self-motivated.
Able to lead junior kitchen staff and support daily kitchen operations.
Physically fit and able to stand for extended periods.
Able to handle multiple tasks simultaneously.
Willing to work flexible shifts when required.
