ABOUT THE POSITION
The Temp Healthcare Screener / Healthcare Assistant will provide general support to patients, visitors, family members and healthcare personnel within the assigned healthcare department.
The role involves assisting with general enquiries, providing directions, supporting patient and visitor flow, helping with crowd control and carrying out basic administrative or logistical duties when required.
Candidates should be comfortable working in a healthcare environment where situations can sometimes become busy or stressful. The ability to remain calm, patient and professional is important, especially when interacting with patients and family members who may be anxious or distressed.
This position requires candidates to work overnight from 10:30 PM to 7:00 AM and commit to four specific working days each week.

Working hours:
10:30 PM – 7:00 AM
Candidates must be able to consistently commit to the scheduled working days and overnight working hours.
The required commitment is at least four months and above, starting from 12 September onwards.
Candidates who are unable to commit to the required schedule may not be suitable for this particular position.
SALARY INFORMATION
The standard hourly rate for this position is:
$16 per hour
For work performed on a Public Holiday, the rate is:
$32 per hour
This represents double pay compared with the standard hourly rate.

JOB RESPONSIBILITIES
Patient and Visitor Assistance
The successful candidate will assist patients, visitors and family members with general enquiries.
Responsibilities may include:
- Attending to general enquiries from patients and visitors.
- Providing clear and accurate directions within the healthcare facility.
- Helping patients and visitors identify the appropriate department or location.
- Providing general assistance in a polite and professional manner.
- Directing specific medical or healthcare enquiries to the appropriate healthcare personnel.
- Maintaining a helpful and service-oriented attitude when interacting with members of the public.
Crowd Control and Patient Flow
The healthcare environment can become busy, particularly during periods of high patient volume.
Duties may include:
- Assisting with crowd control within the assigned department.
- Helping to maintain an orderly environment.
- Supporting patient and visitor flow.
- Assisting staff when there are large numbers of patients or visitors.
- Helping to ensure that patients and visitors follow the appropriate procedures.
- Escalating situations to supervisors or nursing staff when necessary.
Supporting Patients and Family Members
Some patients and family members may feel worried, anxious or distressed.
The Healthcare Screener / Healthcare Assistant may be required to:
- Provide a calm and reassuring presence.
- Communicate patiently with patients and family members.
- Assist individuals who may be unsure about where to go or what to do.
- Remain professional during stressful or high-pressure situations.
- Provide appropriate non-clinical assistance.
- Seek assistance from supervisors or healthcare personnel when a situation requires further attention.
Patient Registration
Depending on the department and assigned duties, the candidate may assist with patient registration.
This may include:
- Supporting the registration process.
- Assisting patients with general registration-related enquiries.
- Providing directions and instructions where appropriate.
- Ensuring that assigned administrative tasks are completed accurately.
- Referring medical or specialised enquiries to the appropriate staff.
Appointment Scheduling
Candidates may also be required to assist with appointment-related administrative tasks.
Duties may include:

REQUIREMENTS

Previous healthcare experience is not required.
However, candidates should be willing to learn and able to follow instructions provided by supervisors and healthcare personnel.
